Importing data

You can import structured data from spreadsheet files directly into a Collection. This is useful when you already have data in a table format and want to bring it into Instill for AI-powered analysis.

Supported import formats

Format

Extension

CSV

.csv

Excel

.xlsx, .xls

Parquet

.parquet

How to import

  1. Open a Collection and switch to the Tabular View.

  2. Click Add a row.

  3. Upload your spreadsheet file.

  4. The system previews the data and maps columns.

  5. Confirm the import.

The imported data populates the table. If the Collection has AI Autofill columns, the Agent processes the imported rows and generates AI insights automatically.

Import via chat

You can also ask the Agent to import data:

"Import this CSV into a new Collection and extract key trends."

The Agent will create or update a Collection based on the file's structure.

Exporting data

Export your Collection data to use in other tools, share with colleagues, or archive for records.

How to export

  1. Open a Collection.

  2. Click the Export option from the Collection actions menu.

  3. Choose the export format (CSV).

  4. The file downloads to your computer.

Exported data includes all rows and columns visible in the Tabular View.
