What are Collection Templates?
Collection Templates are pre-configured Collection structures designed for common use cases. Instead of building a Collection from scratch, you can start with a template that already has the right columns, types, and AI instructions set up.
Templates cover a variety of scenarios, including:
Retail Lease Management
Contract Review
Financial Report Analysis
Compliance Document Tracking
And 100+ more templates

What's included in a template?
Each template comes with:
Pre-defined columns with appropriate types (text, number, single select, etc.)
AI Autofill instructions that tell the Agent what to extract from uploaded documents
Column descriptions that guide the AI's extraction logic
After creating from a template
Once a Collection is created from a template:
Upload your documents β Drag and drop files into the Collection, or click "Add a row" in the Tabular view.
AI auto-fills the columns β The Agent processes each document and populates the table based on the template's instructions.
Customize as needed β Add, edit, or remove columns to fit your specific requirements.
Templates are a starting point. You can modify any aspect of the Collection after creation.
Can I create my own templates?
Currently, templates are provided by Instill. If you have a use case that isn't covered, you can create a blank Collection and ask the Agent in chat to help you structure it.
